  • Development of Buddhist/Tibetan Culture and Art
    • Preference to teaching over dance & drama.
  • Promote, preserve and protect the cultural heritage of the Himalayas
    • University courses on study & research of cultural heritage
    • Preservation on old manuscripts, literature, art & craft, documentation of cultural activities and events; AV programs of art & culture; training in traditional & folk art.
  • Promotion of regional & local museums to highlight the culture of a particular area.
  • Conferences, seminars & symposia on important cultural matters;
    • R&D activities like surveys & pilot projects; research on different aspects such as traditions & philosophy.
    • Also cultural activities, i.e. literary, visual & performing arts.
  • Building Equipment Grant: to create equipped training, rehearsals and performance spaces for artists; research support in cultural activities.
  • Emeritus fellowship: financial support to distinguished artists; There are also scholarships for young artists, medical aid for artistes
  • Cultural org.- construction of building, preservation propagation promotion of culture, preference to teaching over dance drama.
  • Tribal: opportunities to tribals to organise cultural activities in their environment
    • Ensure continuity of tribal art & craft
    • Promote & support documentation, research, survey of tribal & folk art, especially those facing extinction.
    • Promote richness of tribal/rural culture in urban areas.
  • Reorganisation & development of museums (those not directly managed by the govt)
    • Institutions which have been making distinct contribution to teaching, propagation and performances in their respective fields of specialization are eligible for a grant under this Scheme
  • Digitization of museum collections
  • Grants to professional groups and individuals for specified performing arts projects.
  • Award for Special Assistance (ASI) for improvement of infrastructure
    • 100% for projects in schedules and tribal areas
    • 90% in other areas.
